BOOKS AND BEERS: CHEERS! WITH NICHOLAS PASHLEY | $45

“We like beer in Canada. We really, really like it. And it's not just a fly-by-night, sordid little affair. We're in it long term…” In the long-awaited follow up to Notes on a Beermat, Pashley explores the history of beer in Canada in his new book, Cheers! Join us for a fun filled event of books, beers and cheers! We welcome back Susan Chamberlain, owner of The Book Keeper, and special guest author Nicholas Pashley. Tonight Nicholas Pashley will enlighten us with his humour and passion for the brew and guide us through a history of beer in Canada with his latest released book entitled Cheers! along with a tasting of Nick’s choice of Canadian beers available at the LCBO.

Experience the perfect wine pairings for the evening’s delicacies, and as you’re sampling, learn about where your next holiday getaway may take you, what are the new hot spots, and travel tips you need to know. This evening will give you wonderful cooking ideas, help you discover your favourite new wine, and you’ll receive a gift courtesy of Transat Holidays.

SENSATIONAL SEARING | $40

Join us as we welcome local business owner and instructor David Ghobril, of The Ice Creamery, who will show you how using a simple cooking technique such as searing can have a sensational meal on the table in 30 minutes or less. Tonight David will discuss tips and the benefits of searing as well as prepare a menu for you to sample that will not only offer you flavour but more free-time. Our Product Consultant will also complement the menu with a discussion and tasting of wines and beers to match.
This class includes a food matching segment.

COSMETICS, COIFFURES AND COCKTAILS: DAY to night - $50

Join us this evening for a fabulous pre-holiday event featuring cosmetics, coiffures and cocktails, the perfect ingredients for a “girls’ night out”. Special guests Heather Sydorko, a London make-up artist employed by a prestigious cosmetic company, along with hair stylists from Ruckle Hair Concepts, will demonstrate the tricks of the trade and the hottest trends for the holidays. We will also demonstrate what every woman should know about transitioning make-up and hair from daytime to evening wear. Our Product Consultant will complement the evening with perfect holiday cocktails and hors d'oeuvres to match. Each participant will receive a MAC VIVA GLAM lipstick (retail $18.75) with all proceeds going to an AIDS Fund.

Saturday, November 6 | 1:00 – 3:00 PM

HOLIDAY TRUFFLES WITH THE ICE CREAMERY | $45

Chocolate truffles began as a confection from France made traditionally with a ganache center and shaped into round or conical spheres then rolled in cocoa powder. Today, the possibilities and varieties are endless. Join us for this hands-on class instructed by chocolatier and co-owner of The Ice Creamery, David Ghobril. You will learn the art and techniques of making your own decadent holiday truffles including tempering chocolate, making ganache and chocolate centers using dark, milk and white chocolate, experiment with different flavours, learn decorating techniques, and various tricks of the trade.
