COCKTAILS & CONVERSATION BOOK CLUB

Nothing goes together quite like cocktails and conversation. This winter, the LCBO offers another series of Cocktails & Conversation book club events. We invite readers to share their thoughts while sampling themed LCBO selections and hors d’oeuvres. Each of these popular events includes a moderated discussion, a visit from the author, and a complimentary copy of the book. Intimate, informal and very insightful for all.

Join us at the following locations for a literary evening you won’t forget.

(Includes a complimentary copy of Coppermine by Keith Ross Leckie) Fiction

Part epic adventure, part romance, and part true-crime thriller, Coppermine is a dramatic, compelling, character-driven story set in 1917 in the extremes of Canada's far north and the boom town of Edmonton. The story begins when two missionaries disappear in the remote Arctic region known as the Coppermine. North West Mounted Police officer Jack Creed and Angituk, a young Copper Inuit interpreter, are sent on a year-long odyssey to investigate the fate of the lost priests. On the shores of the Arctic Ocean near the mouth of the Coppermine River, they discover their dismembered remains.

(includes a complimentary copy of The Witch of Babylon by DJ McIntosh) Fiction

Out of the searing heat and sandstorms of the infamous summer of 2003 in Baghdad comes The Witch of Babylon, a gripping story rooted in ancient Assyrian lore and its little-known but profound significance for the world. John Madison is a Turkish-American art dealer raised by his much older brother, Samuel, a mover and shaker in New York's art world. Caught between his brother's obsession with saving a priceless relic looted from Iraq's National Museum and a deadly game of revenge staged by his childhood friend, John must solve a puzzle to find the link between a modern-day witch and an ancient one.
